Low Fat French ToastI like this french toast, which is low fat and made of healthy four grain bread, but it really is not sweet by itself and needs jam or syrup or peanut butter for flavor.Submitted on 01/23/2006 by jovanna Number of people who have "favored" this: 0 Read all 24 reviews below -OR-Add your own reviewReviews (24)

These are tasty and healthy, but they do need syrup and maybe a little butter to bring the flavah... If TJ's reworked this, I'd want it with a little more cinnamon taste, or maybe a raisin version.

I like this product. I'd rather have it than frozen waffles. I like the body that the whole-grain bread gives this French toast. Yes, syrup is needed, but that's not a problem, IMO. :)

My 3 yr old son eats a slice of this every morning. Don't think it's dry at all, we eat it plain, no syrup or butter, and love it. Have started buying multiple boxes at a time because my store is out of it a lot.

We did a demo with this product and "stuffed" two slices with mascarpone mixed with maple syrup, cinnamon and pecans. WOW! Not an every morning kind of treat but perfect if you are having a brunch for friends or family. We threw some fresh fruit on top and added a little more maple syrup. It was amazing!
We also buy multiple boxes at a time and eat it with butter, syrup and sometimes fresh fruit.

I try and toaster oven it: the middle is too cold. microwave: too rubbery. the taste is good but it looses it's heat so fast! I'll try alternative heating methods but i'm just suprised by the heating issue on it. tastes great though!

For a quick weekday breakfast I pop this in the toaster - but if I have more time I heat it in a 350 oven for about 10 minutes and it comes out PERFECT. I would never put this in the microwave. Great with a splash of syrup - and I think its mild flavor is perfect - but those who wish for more cinnamon flavor should try sprinkling with a little cinnamon sugar before baking - elevates this to cinnamon bun status without all the fat.

I just pop this stuff in the toaster right from the freezer and have had not trouble getting it heated. It's only 110 calories, which is less than some slices of bread TJ's sells, so I think this is a very healthy treat for weekend breakfasts.

I didn't like it at first, but my daughter enjoys it for breakfasts. After reading all the comments on here, I am going to try some adjustments and see if it doesn't taste as bad. I love good french toast!
Daughter stuck her nose up at it because I didnt drwon it in syrup. Sigh--I have a lot of work to do!!! LOL.
I thought they were good!!! bydragon_of_chai, November 22, 2006
i love these becuse i love french toast but never have time to make it myself this is time saving and its whole grain

I thought this really missed the mark. It was dry, cold seconds after coming out of the toaster oven and after adding the syrup that is all I could taste. Next time I will wait until I have the time to make my own.
i forgot to state i prepare these in a regular toaster. you do not need to have a toaster oven.
I microwave this occassionally for my son on weekday mornings, on weekends we go the toaster-oven route -- we like it either way. We prefer real maple syrup to anything else, but I don't think this needs a lot of syrup, and my 2-yr old ate TWO slices this morning, which makes it a qualified success.

Tastes like homemade french toast.

Love this french toast.Topped with real maple syrup,or even a light coating of lemon curd,it is delicious.Real butter helps too. These are best prepared in a toaster oven, convection oven,or regular oven, not a pop-up toaster or microwave.

This is a weekday breakfast staple at our house. It's easy to pop in the toaster. My kids love it with a bit of TJs Fruit Spread (raspberry is their favorite). Also good topped with sliced banana.

I'd never microwave this either. I used to just put it in the toaster. It wasn't GREAT, but it was decent and less calories than other versions. One morning, my egg was ready before the toast was ready. I had a bit of butter left in the skillet, and I wanted to hurry the toast along, so I popped it up out of the toaster and threw it down in the skillet, and quickly fried it on both sides, as you would normally cook French Toast. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT. The edges sizzled, it caramelized a bit, and reminded me of homemade french toast. The outside was crispy and the inside was tender. It was far and away better than just plainly toasted. I think I'll do that from now on -- toast it to heat it through, and finish it off in a skillet until it's more deeply browned and sizzly. Yum.

I eat this all the time, but not with butter and syrup. Instead, I top it w/ warmed (frozen) berries and a dollop of nonfat Greek Yogurt. Makes a delicious, easy, and relatively balanced breakfast.
